About our community

Holland, Michigan, is home to natural beauty, a vibrant economy, an engaged community, and a thriving Midwest work ethic. It's a terrific place to work, play, raise a family, or visit.

Businesses of all sizes thrive in Holland, from major employers to mom-and-pop start-ups, to everything in between. A diverse cross-section of business and industry drives Holland's economic engine, including two of the country's three largest contract furniture manufacturers, major automotive and aerospace suppliers, boatbuilders, service providers, and many others.

Each year, 2.5 million visitors discover what makes Holland such a great place to live, work, and play. Holland's charming, vibrant, historic downtown is host to restaurants, cafes, unique shops, offices, and the charming Hope College campus. Located along a pristine stretch of Michigan's 325-mile 'gold coast', Holland boasts the exceptional sugar-sand beaches of Lake Michigan and the inland Lake Macatawa, home to numerous marinas with easy access to 'the big lake.'

It's no wonder that Michigan has the most registered recreational boaters of any state. Fishing—for coho and king salmon, steelhead, lake trout, brown trout and perch—is a popular pastime in and around Holland, as are recreational boating, sailing, windsurfing, and just about any water sport you can imagine.

The area is also home to excellent golf courses.
